COMMERCIAL CHIMNEY INSPECTIONS & SWEEPING
Chimney Sweeps & Certified Inspections
Why is chimney cleaning important? Regular cleaning of your chimney to clear away the creosote (a potentially flammable substance) reduces your risk of a chimney fire.
What are the Chimney Inspection Regulations? Both the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and fireplace manufacturers have regulations on maintaining your masonry fireplace, factory built fireplace, wood stove or gas fireplace. Masonry and factory built fireplaces are recommended to be swept when the buildup of soot reaches 1/8”, while wood stoves should be swept every year. Many manufacturers of stoves, fireplaces and chimney liners will not honor the warranty of a product if it is not maintained according to the owner’s manual.
How often does a fireplace need cleaned? Every year. The National Fire Protection states “Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents should be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary.” Have your fireplace checked annually no matter how often you use it, not only for cleaning purposes but to check for any damage.
