RESIDENTIAL CHIMNEY INSPECTIONS & SWEEPING
The Importance of Chimney Sweeping
Chimney sweeping is in important function. Annual chimney sweepings help maintain the life of your chimney and help prevent potential damage that could occur from the soot buildup. A substance that lines your chimney from using your fireplace is creosote. This substance is potentially flammable and a regular chimney sweeping can help reduce the risk of a chimney fire.
Wright Way uses some of the best chimney sweeping tools available. When sweeping your chimney, we use whips with extraordinarily high speeds and brushes that break loose any soot and debris built up in your flue. We then use our high powered gas or electric vacuums to clear out the debris.
Our technicians provide customer service at the highest levels and have extensive years of experience in chimney sweeping. They are also professionally trained and certified inspectors. Wright Way’s inspectors provide two levels of inspection. Level I consists of our technicians visually inspecting the chimney or your stove and its adjoining connector pipe. Level II goes a step further by utilizing a live video scan to inspect your chimney and identify if there is any debris buildup or damage.
Chimney Sweeping and Inspection Regulations
Your fireplace manufacturer should have regulations on maintaining your masonry fireplace and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) have regulations as well. The recommendation for masonry and factory built fireplace are to have them swept when the soot buildup reaches 1/8” and would stoves should be swept every year. Many fireplace and stove manufacturers will not honor your warranty if you do not properly maintain them.
The NFPA states that you should have your chimneys, fireplaces, and vents inspected at least once a year for soundness, deposits, and correct clearances. Have your fireplace inspected no matter how often you use it.
